Kids rooms don't need to be all about pink and blues. We recently completed a baby's room for a client that incorporated a gorgeous palette of grey, white and yellow. We really played up the use of great fabrics, textures and patterns. The overall look that we created was one that was sophisticated but also had some whimsical factors that make it perfectly suited for the child to transition into, no matter what their age.

YEG Wood
My partner recently shared this amazing resource with me. YEG Wood is a group of fashionable people coming together to find stylish and eco friendly products to bring to the masses. All made of wood of course, these items have a rustic quality but chic enough for any fashionable person and definitely make a statement. Save the planet and look amazing, what more could a person ask for?
Best find: The Treefarer sunglasses. Made from a single block of natural wood, they are the perfect accessory for the summer. "Art on your face" as they like to call it.

Reduce, Reuse, ReWORK!
While shopping for clients the other day, I cam across a store called ReWorks in a part of Calgary called Inglewood. Seeing the claw foot tub turned sofa in the window, I knew I had to go in and check things out. Re Works is a store that prides itself on carrying items that are either made from reused materials or have an eco concious way of production and I love that! "Shop and feel good about it!"
The store is filled with the most amazing, one of a kind finds from furniture made from road signs to cardboard moose heads. They also make their own custom throw pillows from fabric remnants, furniture and lighting: a great way to add a custom touch to your space. Next time you are in Inglewood, a quick peek into ReWorks is a must!

thomaspaul
A few months back I was in a shop called 29Armstrong. It is one of my must stops when visiting Edmonton, AB. The shop is filled with the best of the best when it comes to design and this time around, items by the fabulous Thomas Paul caught my eye. Amazing sea inspired prints adorned everything from bedding, tea towels, pillows and soap dishes. If there is anything I love in design it is nautical inspiration and this does just that. I have to say that I have been using the tea towels I purchased quite a lot and i love them! They are gorgeous, made with amazing fabrics that get better with age.
Thomas Paul:
Born in NYC, he got his start in the fashion business as an intern at DKNY after he graduated from New York's Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in textile design. He then went on to design his own neckwear line called digits in the late 90's. From this he went on to design the thomaspaul pillow collection which launch in 2001. His ultimate goal, to have products covering every aspect of the home all with thomaspaul patterns gracing them.
A fabulous goal indeed!

DwellStudio at The Bay
Starting in April, select Bay stores across Canada will now be caring the DwellStudio line, which is amazing news! This gorgeous collection gives off a mid century vibe with it's furniture pieces but modernized with the use of delicious fabric choices for its upholstery. I have been using DwellStudio fabrics and bedding in a lot of my designs. I find all the fabric choices to be so gorgeous and suit a lot of different types of decor. A great way to inject some bold colour into your space.
Products that will be available include most of the DwellStudio decor accessory line including pillows, bedding and table lines. Select styles of the furniture line will also be available for purchase but items can be custom ordered.
Founder and designer of DwellStudio, Christine Lemieux revolutionized the bedding market when she launched her innovative company in 1999. Fusing modes design with luxurious details this collection has a fresh voice in the interiors world. A native of Ottawa, Canada, Lemieux is a graduate of Queen's University and Parsons School of Design in New York.
This is very excited news and I am happy to report that the collections will be sold at select Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal Bay locations. Hopefully Calgary will be next on the list! Fingers crossed.

Kimono Blossom Fabric Collection- Designers Guild
Just in time for spring, Designers Guild has introduced a new collection called Kimono Blossom. A statement collection of printed designs on fine linens and cottons. Original calligraphy and watercolour artwork has been meticulously reproduced, along with some more graphic and floral designs. The collection is a mix of soft feminine tones with bold colours that are my fave!
It is all about being bold, bright, and adventurous in our fabric choices.
